For the second time in as many seasons, Fairfield standout Sam Snow scored the game winner in overtime to lead Fairfield to a 10-9 upset of the Denver Pioneers. The goal almost mirrored last year when Snow scored the game winning goal against Denver but this time it was on Pioneers home field and with Denver as the newly crowned number one team in the country. The goal came 56 seconds into extra time and was the second goal of the game for the senior. The win was also the first time Fairfield has beaten a number one ranked team in the programs history and also secures a spot for the Stags in the ECAC playoffs.

Jamie Baker is the Tournament Director at Adrenaline.  Having played the sport since the second grade, he has gained a wide range of experiences in different tournaments and lacrosse events.  He grew up playing in New Jersey for Kinnelon Township, and was a key contributor on the Varsity Seton Hall Prep High School Men’s Team for four years.  He played for the Tri-State Lacrosse Club from 2002-2004 and played in the New Jersey Senior North-South Game in 2004.  He continued to play lacrosse at Nazareth College in Rochester, New York (2005-2006), and finished his college career at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2008.  From 2008-2009 he was Co-Director of Morris Select Lacrosse Club and from 2008-2010 was Goalie Coach, Assistant Offensive Coordinator, and Recruiting Coordinator at his alma mater.  While coaching he played for the US Developmental Indoor Lacrosse Team in Canada.  From 2010-2012 he was assistant coach at both Seton Hall Prep School and St. Joseph’s Prep-Metuchen.

In the spring of 2012 Jamie decided to pack up and head west.  He became the Assistant Varsity Coach at The Bishop’s School and the middle school Head Coach.  He also coached for the RC Starz Club team.  Hailing from the East Coast with years of playing and coaching in a multitude of tournaments and recruiting camps qualified Jamie as the top pick for Tournament Director at Adrenaline.  For Jamie, participating in the Adrenaline movement is the most rewarding part of his job.  His values as a coach and player of trust, loyalty, hard work, and accountability are all in line with Adrenaline’s core values.  Be sure to check out the Adrenaline Tournaments that are happening this summer!

Niko Amato tabbed ACC Defensive Player of the Week: (WCS Coach)
Amato made a career-best 24 saves to lead Maryland to a win over Yale. The junior was steady throughout the game, recording five, six, seven, and six saves in quarters one through four, respectively. He was clutch in the biggest moment of the game, recording his 24th save shortly after the go-ahead goal with 13 seconds left to preserve the victory.  The 24 saves for the native of Conshohocken,Pa., ties him for the third-most in the NCAA this season, and are the most recorded by an ACC goalie since 2005 when Maryland’s Harry Alford had 25 in a 13-6 win over Georgetown.

Eric Shansagrin stymies Harvard in 2nd career start:(WCS/NC Mavs)
Sanschagrin, a sophomore, made one start a year ago but had played only 3:13 for the season prior to the Harvard game. He made eight saves in the game, seven of which came while Princeton built a 12-4 lead in the span of the last three quarters.

Robert Church & Ben Mcintosh combine for 11 points in win over Towson (WCS):
Robert Church had 4 goals and 3 assists, while Ben McIntosh added 2 goals and 2 assists, to propel Drexel to a big win over rival Towson. Drexel, a team that has been known for their defense, has been strong on the offensive end notching an average of 12.9 goals a game, due in large part to these two young men.

John Paul, Ryan Danehy & Ken Broschart earn program’s first victory of season:
Hats go off to our close friends at the University of Michigan, who earned the school’s first win of the season and second in program history, defeating St. Joe’s,   11-8. These guys have been fighting adversity all season and continue to show up and battle. Keep up the good work guys, you are building something great!

Tune in this weekend to watch top-ranked NCAA teams match up:
This weekend the Kinoca Big City Classic will feature Princeton facing off against Cornell and Notre Dame playing Syracuse at MetLife Stadium. Both games will be televised for all to watch. It will also showcase the #1 ranked high school team in the West, St. Ignatius, who will be playing Seton Hill Prep and Chaminade High School. In addition, the Patriot League Playoffs will be televised on CBS Sports Network and the ACC playoffs on ESPNU. We strongly encourage all of our younger players to tune in. Several WCS & Adrln alums will be in action in these games, and we are excited to see our homegrown boys on the national stage!

Part of the 2013 Adrenaline mission is clear and concise communications with our customers and family members. It is our hope that the clarity of message will allow our core customers to easily understand how to utilize the full power of the Adrenaline network and system to achieve their goals. This article explains the nuts and bolts of our Recruiting System and the programs that make it up. After reading this article, players, coaches, parents and team organizers should understand how to easily plug their players into this highly effective system. Please note that the many great features included in these events - powerful sponsorstop level clinicsLXM PROsADRLN gear and other amazing Adrenaline extras, are not discussed in this article. Details on these types of things should be researched on our website under each program. As always, if you have further questions send us an email at info@adrln.com or lob our customer service department a quick call and they can happily assist.

Overall Structure:

  • The Adrenaline Recruiting System is a tiered progression program model. Players can qualify into a higher level of recruiting program based on their overall skill set. This model helps players and recruiters alike identify an appropriate collegiate playing match by being able to zero in on specific or multiple levels of events.
  • It is composed of two general types of events:

1. Team Recruitment Events: Top-level competitive team tournaments with an average of 75-100 collegiate recruiters in    attendance.

2. Individual Recruitment Events: Highly selective individual events. Players are selected by the AET from previous events’ grades or based off of an AET review of a trusted coach’s recommendation form. Recommendation forms are found on our website under each event.

Collegiate Placement Success Rate (CPSR):

  • An Adrenaline statistic created in 2009 to measure the effectiveness of the Adrenaline Recruitment System and the programs from which it is composed. Each member of a graduating class is tracked to determine the number and percentage of those players was placed in a collegiate program and playing lacrosse.  Each event has a CPSR score based on the previous year’s statistics.
  • Example: 114 out of 130 players graduating in the 2013 class who attended the Showcase are playing collegiate lacrosse. CPSR: 87.7%

Adrenaline Evaluation Team (AET):

  • The governing body of the Adrenaline Recruitment System comprised of expert evaluators whose credentials include top-level collegiate coaching experience and/or professional playing experience.
  • AET serves as a team of active on-field advocates for every player within the Adrenaline Recruitment System. This is accomplished by speaking with collegiate coaches about players who may be a good fit for their program from a knowledgeable and trusted point of view.
  • AET evaluates and scores players at every team event looking for top level players to invite to various levels of individual recruitment programs.
  • AET also evaluates and scores players at every individual recruitment event. These grades serve as a general guide for collegiate coaches to easily zero in on players whose skill level is a match for their program.
  • AET reviews and evaluates every recommendation form submitted by coaches to determine who qualifies for individual recruitment events.
  • Lastly, AET also evaluates overall teams to see if they are playing at a level of competitiveness that is suitable for certain levels of Team Recruitment events.

Tiered Program Levels:

Level 1: Adrenaline Challenges

Fall and winter regionally based team recruitment events open to all teams of numerous ages and calibers. Multiple divisions ensure an equal playing field. These events are very well attended by recruiters with an average attendance of 75-100 collegiate recruiters. The large majority of these recruiters are NCAA D2 and D3 coaches to accompany some NCAA D1 clinicians. The AET is on hand to evaluate every team and player to determine which team and player respectively may qualify for next level recruitment programs.

CPSR: 25%

Level 2: Adrenaline Shootouts

Summer based team recruitment programs that are more selective than the Level 1 Challenges. Only top level teams are invited to these events to compete in front of a large number of recruiters in a highly competitive tournament setting. Between 75-100 top level NCAA D1, D2 & D3 recruiters attend these events. The AET is on hand to advocate for players in order to facilitate an appropriate collegiate match. Additionally, the AET is on the search for talented players to invite to the next level of recruitment programs.

CPSR: 38%

Level 3: High Rollers

A selective Fall & winter individual recruitment event attended by the top 15% of players from each region. Players are selected by the AET from personal evaluations at previous events or based on a review of a trusted coach’s recommendation. Players are placed on teams and go through a myriad of valuable high level clinics and seminars by NCAA coaches while competing in a series of top level games. Insightful recruitment education programs are also available to parents. These highly effective events are attended by 50-75 NCAA recruiters mostly from the NCAA D1 level. As usual, the AET is on hand to be advocates for players. AET selections for the most esteemed levels of the Adrenaline Recruitment System are also made. This event also has a middle school division.

CPSR: 79%

Level 4: Showcase

An extremely selective summer Individual Recruitment Event attended by the top 5% of players from each specific region. 75-100 recruiters from all levels attend this event with representation from the majority of top NCAA D1, D2 & D3 programs. Typically. Showcases are precursors to the Shootouts so recruiters can evaluate top players perform both as individuals and in a team atmosphere. Players are placed on teams and go through a myriad of valuable high level clinics and seminars by NCAA coaches while competing in a series of top level games. Insightful recruitment education programs are also available to parents. The AET is on hand actively advocating for the Showcase players. Attendees are carefully selected by the AET to attend this event. The AET is also on hand to select players for the most selective recruitment event in the country, Adrenaline Blackcard

CPSR: 88%

Level 5: NSCLA Championships

The NSCLA is the top competitive club organization in the nation. An invite only group composed of 17 programs representing the best of every region in the country including the Baltimore Crabs, Long Island Express, Denver Elite, West Coast Starz, Laxachussets and True. For a complete list, visit our website. Teams compete in a competitive tournament in front of every NCAA collegiate coach in the nation. Access to the NSCLA championships for club programs is highly competitive and currently closed. Teams must illustrate a top level of talent and achievement on a national scale for consideration.

CPSR: TBD

Level 6: Adrenaline Blackcard

In conjunction with the NSCLA, this is the #1 individual recruitment program in the nation. Only the top .25% of players nationally attend this event which is the precursor to the NSCLA championships. This is the most selective event in the nation. Players are placed on teams and go through a myriad of valuable high level clinics and seminars by NCAA coaches while competing in a series of top-level games. Nearly every top level NCAA program is in attendance to scout for talent. What also makes this event unique is that it is all for charity. Proceeds go to the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation in the name of former NCAA coach Jack “Black Jack” McGetrick.

CPSR: TBD

We hope this was a helpful article for parents and players alike to describe the nuts and bolts on how the Adrenaline Recruitment System works. Other related aspects such as Adrenaline Starz will be discussed in future articles.

Adrenaline Shootout Series Returns to Sonoma

Nipping at the heels of the Adrenaline Showcase, primetime players will reunite with their respective teams as they kick off the Adrenaline Shootout Series with the Elite Shootout. Adrenaline will extend its stay at Sonoma University immediately following the Showcase to host three consecutive team tournaments: Elite Shootout (recruiting) (July 12th -14th), High School Shootout (July 19th-21st)(recruiting), and Middle School/Youth Shootout (July 26th-28th).  The Adrenaline Shootout Series is supported by its outstanding sponsors—STX, Gatorade, Knockaround, SKLZ, Athletes Performance, and Adrenaline Apparel—as it heads into a month’s worth of competitive lacrosse. Set in the picturesque region of Sonoma, CA, players will stay in premium dorm villages at Sonoma University, each of which is named after a different type of wine in light of its location. The Shootout establishes an Elite Team Recruitment feel, on-field competition continues to exceed expectations, and close lodging and Adrenaline-led activities off the field facilitate strong team bonding for all attendees. With the Shootout series immediately following the Showcase, recruiters look forward to watching the best players in the West in a primetime and team recruiting setting. Showcase players will reunite with their elite Western teams for the Shootout, providing recruiters with optimum exposure to the best teams in the West in a team setting that is comfortable and familiar for the players.

As a direct result of an accelerated recruiting process, more and more teams are signing up for summer tournaments in an effort to get maximum exposure; however, the size of tournaments has impacted recruiter visibility of players. The density of teams in tournamentslimits recruiters’ ability to see certain perspective athletes, let alone delve into watching a player who randomly catches their eye. In comparison, Adrenaline only opens up the Elite Shootout to select western teams, and to a greater extent, caps the number of attending teams at 32 to ensure a better recruiting experience for both the recruiters and the players.Since its inception twelve years ago, The Elite Shootout has climbed the charts as the prime western team recruiting opportunity for college coaches. Some top teams from California are the LaxDawgs, OC Kings, and RC. Other teams hail from a variety of states, including Team Minnesota, Oregan Outlaws, Colorado Wild, and Denver Elite, to name a few. Each team will play 7-9 games over the course of the event, allowing for maximum exposure to over 90 college recruiters, many of which attended the Showcase days before.  Recruiters love seeing the players in a team atmosphere, playing with familiar faces in a system,” says Jono Zissi, Recruiting Director for Adrenaline. “After seeing the raw talent at the Showcase, coaches get a better feel for where players may fit in their systems at the next level.”

Players will also be given the chance to learn directly from college coaches as well as LXM PROs in upwards of four advanced level clinics offered throughout the weekend. Beyond the team atmosphere, Adrenaline will form two teams to play in an All-Star game. Players will be chosen based on coach, recruiter, and Adrenaline Evaluation Team (AET) recommendations. Past Elite and High school Shootout recruiters include coaches from Duke University, Notre Dame University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Maryland, Salisbury University, Tufts University, and University of Denver.  Among recruiters already committed for a much-anticipated return include Notre Dame University, University of Maryland, Fairfield University, Denver University, and Tufts University.

Playing off the success of the Elite Shootout, Adrenaline expanded the Shootout to a tournament series. This summer marks the 8th year for the Adrenaline High School Shootout, the little brother to the original top team venue for recruitment in the West. Although the high school level teams mostly consist of younger players who have yet to reach their elite club team potential, these players still benefit from recruiter exposure, while also receiving advanced level clinics from an array of NCAA college coaches and LXM PROs. Players are guaranteed at least four clinics that cover topics such as team field concepts, game film analysis, post game chalk talks, positional skill building, and more. Some of the teams committed to the 2013 High School Shootout are Rhino Orangmen, Sala Starz, RC, AZ Force, and Laxbats High School. Mirroring the format of the Elite Shootout, there will be a maximum of 32 select teams attending the tournament, and each team is guaranteed 7-9 games over the course of the weekend. The Adrenaline High School Shootout will also host an All-Star game to showcase the most talented players from the top 32 high school teams in the West.

In addition to the High School Shootout, Adrenaline has opened the series up to 5th-8th graders, forming the Middle School & Youth Shootout. Although this age group has yet to experience the recruiting aspect of the game, this weekend is a very crucial tournament in the series in more ways than one. Not only does this tournament continue to hold a high standard of competition at the younger level, but it also fuels players’ desire to eventually play at the collegiate level, which ultimately leads to the growth of the game in the West. While striving to get better, many players look back on how they have grown over the years as they mature through the tournament series. Players who attend the Middle/Youth Shootout gain advantage over high school first timers because they are used to the format by the time recruiting comes into play when they reach the high school division. Middle School & Youth teams will also play 7-9 games over the course of the event, as well as receive five or more clinics from NCAA college coaches and LXM PROs. Adrenaline provides the same tools to the younger players in an effort to uphold the strong, competitive atmosphere across all age groups. Several current committed Middle School/ Youth Shootout teams include RC, OC Kings, Rhino Rippers, Force Wookiees, LaxDawgs, and AZ Force.

The Adrenaline Shootout Series exemplifies the importance of balancing fun both on and off the field. With only the very top teams in the West in attendance, Adrenaline ensures high-level competition on the field that will only improve one’s game, and hopefully bring elite players to the collegiate level and lead the younger players down the same path to success. Each tournament will have a variety of vendors present as well as a full Adrenaline camp store where you can pick up all the latest Adrenaline gear and hard to find items.  The Feel-it-Factory™ will be in full effect, showcasing all of Adrenaline’s best products and hosting infamous sumo wrestling contests. LXM players will also be present for autographs in addition to the clinics. Players will get their fill of team bonding through activities such as movie night, dodgeball games, a competitive dunk contest, the dunk tank, and more. To mix things up, the Adrenaline Marketing team will generate contests, giveaways, and fun prizes throughout the weekend.

Practice makes perfect

The spring season is in full swing and right now is the time that everyone starts to make his or her summer plans.  With so much focus on travel teams and recruiting camps it is easy to lose sight of what the off season lends itself to which is individual improvement.  To me, the off-season should be a time where players perfect their skills, hit the weights, or work on their speed.  I remember as a kid going out in the summer every morning and shooting before it got too hot, then I’d go to the gym and lift during the mid-day heat, and finish the night off playing summer league under the lights or running at the school’s track once it cooled down.  As a high school coach I can tell you that whatever talent walks onto my field in February leaves with the same skill set come May.   I can get kids in better shape and put them in systems to be successful but there is just not enough time during spring practices to work with each player.  I can show players how to catch & throw, shoot, dodge etc., but if they don’t work on it on their own in the offseason they will not improve in a few minutes each practice.   Offseason club lacrosse is a great chance to play some lacrosse with your buddies in a more relaxed atmosphere or to get a chance to get seen by coaches in a recruiting tournament but it is still not solving the problem of lacking fundamentals.  This is the reason we came up with the Adrenaline Training Programs.  These programs have been designed to help players at every level improve their individual skills.   Skills Training and LXM Positional Training are two programs designed to teach players everything from how to increase your shooting power and accuracy to how to be a lockdown defenseman.  These programs ensure that players are getting the right instruction so they can continue to take the new drills they learned and practice them on their own.  AdrenaFit is an amazing program designed for committed players that want to see improvements in their strength, speed, and skills.  Players are taught how to be better athletes as well as players.   They can then take these new skills into the club or spring season.  Lastly, our K18 Impact Camp is designed for the best players in the west to learn skills that will transform their games.  Players will be working with strength coaches, physical therapists, sports psychologists, and some of the top players & coaches in the game to gain valuable skills necessary for making the leap to college lacrosse.  These programs are all designed to help make our players that much better when it is time for the recruiting camp, spring season, or first year of college.  Remember that these programs are designed to teach players how to get better.  It is up to the kids to put in the extra time to reach their goals.

San Diego, CA: The final roster is set for the most exciting and significant lacrosse weekend in the West. The Adrenaline All-American game featuring LXM PRO will take place at Orange Coast College June 8th in Costa Mesa, CA.

The fun-filled day of lacrosse will begin early Saturday morning with a youth through high school tournament that corresponds to the LXM professional series. Each team will play a total of two games leading up to a double header- LXM and Adrenaline All-American games. The full-length LXM professional game will begin at 4:30 PM featuring the top pro players in the game including Kyle Harrison, Sam Bradman, Tim Desko, and Matt Russell. Following the LXM game at 7:00 PM, lacrosse enthusiasts will get to watch the top 50 seniors west of the Mississippi play a competitive full length North vs. South all-star game. This game is the only chance for fans to truly see the pride of the entire west compete in one location.

The two stacked Adrenaline All-American rosters are composed of 45 NCAA D1 players and 5 NCAA D2 & D3 players. “We are very proud of this event. It feels great to be able to provide a setting that combines the best players in the game at the professional and high school level for fans to enjoy. For the western United States this is the most significant event of the year and a true tribute to Western lacrosse and the players and coaches that make it so great. We are very thankful for all the sponsors who have rallied around and shared our vision for this type of event” says Alex Cade, President and CMO of Adrenaline.

The Adrenaline All-American game has etched itself as the pinnacle in the careers of the best western High School lacrosse players. The game is the perfect celebration of the illustrious success of these young men, who are all heading off to play at the collegiate level. “What makes this game so special, is that most of these boys have come through the Adrenaline ranks at one point in time and we are proud to have had even a slight hand in their success and development over the years,” says Jono Zissi, Recruiting Director for Adrenaline. “These young men have left an indelible mark and are the perfect ambassadors for the western lacrosse movement. They have laid a solid foundation for the younger generations to build on, and we wish them nothing but the best as they head to the next level.”

Thirteen years ago the initial efforts from Adrenaline were focused on encouraging recruiters to travel west to watch western players in their own element. What has kept recruiters coming back are the current western born NCAA players that are having a powerful impact on the collegiate game. Many of these western born collegiate players who we all watch throughout the spring are previous Adrenaline All Americans and born of the Adrenaline Recruiting System. Notable past All-American players who have already proved themselves worthy contenders at the next level are Challen Rogers, Michael Hernandez, Tanner Scales, and Dakota Rohlin. Challen Rogers of Stony Brook has been listed by Inside Lacrosse as one of the top 5 most impactful freshmen of 2013. He iscurrently third on the team in scoring with 20 goals and 15 assists and runs on the first midfield as well as extra man unit. Rogers came through Adrenaline as a West Coast Starz player from BC, Canada. Tanner Scales, Virginia, is also listed by Inside Lacrosse as one of the top 5 most impactful freshmen. Scales has been a starter on the backline for the Cavaliers all year and has really made a name for himself with his precise checks and physical style of play. His coming out party included a blanketing of Ivy Leagues All time leading scorer, Rob Pannell. Scales attended Regis Jesuit High School in Colorado and was a member of the Adrenaline Tropics. Scales’ Tropics teammate, Michael Hernandez from San Francisco, has also earned a starting position all season for Michigan. He is the second leading scorer for the Wolverines and set a school record with 4 goals versus High Point. Jacksonville lucked out with a former LaxDawgs and West Coast Starz player, Dakota Rohlin. Rohlin has been an integral force for the Dolphins as a starting midfielder and earned MAAC Rookie of the week after his three-point performance in a win over Marquette.

These past players have set a standard of high expectations for the talent in Adrenaline All-American game, but this year’s line-up is equipped to rise to the occasion. The 2013 rosters include players from nine states and one province: Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Texas, Minnesota, Nevada, and British Columbia. Key players in this year’s All-American game include Kieran Eissler (Hopkins), Lucas Gradinger (Maryland), Wilkins Dismuke (Hopkins), Matt Emery (Virginia) and Mike Schlosser (Michigan).

Below are both rosters for the 2013 Adrenaline All-American North and South teams:

adrenaline all-american, all-american, lacrosse, best in the west, north vs south all-star game, marquee, lxm pro, lxm, adrln

Post-game highlights will also be available on the Adrln Youtube channel. Last year’s game saw live attendance figures of 10000+ with online viewers at 26000, while replay numbers total 120,000 views. To round out the uniform, players will receive a pair of the custom Adrenaline All-American performance socks that provide excellent comfort and support. Adrenaline will also be giving a branded t-shirt with the quintessential Adrenaline comfort and style. Players will receive their new gear in a first edition of the Adrenaline Duffle bag. With a simple and compact design, this bag has the versatility to perform. In addition, Gatorade will provide players with their top performance G-Series products to ensure players are properly fueled for the game.

The Adrenaline All-American game honors Tyler Lucas, 18 year-old devoted lacrosse player who was a part of the Adrenaline family and lost his life too early in 2011. Tyler played for Issaquah High School and was going to continue his career at Dominican University of California, DII. The lacrosse community will honor him at halftime for the presentation of the Tyler Lucas scholarship award. This award will go to the player that best embodies Tyler’s finest traits including commitment to his team and strong leadership amongst his peers. Separately, if you would like to make a donation in honor of Tyler’s memory, suggested donations should go towards the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Tyler’s name.

The Adrenaline All- American game in conjunction with LXM|ATS: Orange County presented by Champion receives great support from its sponsors to make this event one you don’t want to miss. Legacy Lacrosse Cup

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to be a part of something very special. JR Oreskovich and I were invited to attend the 6th annual Legacy Cup in Milton Georgia on Adrenaline and LXM’s behalf.

Six years ago the Jackson family, the Milton lacrosse community and thousands of friends grieved the loss of Parker Jackson. By all accounts Parker was a great lacrosse player and person with an extremely bright future. Parker died in a single car accident at the age of 16, leaving behind his family and friends as well as an incredible reputation. What Parker was known for was his beaming personality and his love for life—his legacy. I have a ton of great memories from the weekend but the one that will certainly stick is the way in which Parker embraced life, “My actions today determine my legacy”, has become the message his family continues to deliver on his behalf.  Listening to Bo Jackson (Parker’s Dad) say these words at the tournament dinner during his incredible speech gave me the chills.  This is what the Legacy Lacrosse Cup is all about. This is why the tournament was created.

“I was waiting to reach out to you and Bo (Lauren and Bo Jackson) to THANK YOU for a wonderful experience. I really believe it turned our season around for us. We do a mentoring program with our feeder program, LNU. I had our Seniors talk about what the Legacy Cup was really about. They handed out the cards you gave us to the younger boys. The Legacy Cup has reached out to more than just 3 teams from Lake Norman. Everything about the Legacy Cup was top shelf.  I truly believe in your message, ‘My Actions Today Determine My Legacy’. On behalf of Lake Norman HS and Lake Norman United THANK YOU!” James Bruegger

Testimonials like this one are NOT few and far between. It seemed that every single person in the room, from every different team, and every different state being represented, whole-heartedly bought into the message the Legacy Lacrosse Cup was delivering.

One of our responsibilities while we were at the tournament was to hold a few LXM Pro clinics with Kyle Harrison. Kyle travels 40+ weeks out of the entire year and the Legacy Lacrosse Cup remains an event he attends year in and year out. That’s saying something. Kyle does NOT have to do this but like I said, these people are incredible and Kyle obviously recognizes the fact that their cause is extremely worthwhile.  Kyle spoke on Friday night after Bo Jackson. His speech was extremely inspiring and his message was very similar and boiled down to the same thing: “My Actions Today Determine My Legacy”. We all have a choice in how we approach life. The Legacy Cup urges us to think about how we want to be remembered.

We had such a great time getting to know the Jacksons and their extended family. We will not soon forget the Legacy Cup and the lifestyle they are promoting. On behalf of JR and myself, THANK YOU! Your hospitality was incredible.

The winners of the "Legacy Award". These individuals were selected by their teammates (one per team) for embodying the message of the Legacy Cup: "My Actions Today Determine My Legacy". Each winner received a gift pack from Adrenaline including socks, shirt, hat, magnet, sticker, and backpack.

Week 11 Player Tracker

This past week started one of the best times of the year for all lacrosse enthusiasts.  It is marked by warmer weather, end of the season conference tournaments, selection Sunday and the end of finals. Players are able to reap the rewards of their hard work and essentially, become professional lacrosse players with the semester in the rear view and everyone’s eyes solely focused on making it to Lincoln Financial Field. For anyone who has ever been to an NCAA tournament, you know how special the feeling is with  the team bonding, the media, the close proximity to the ultimate goal—all of which make it one of the most unique and exciting times in an athlete’s life. This year has been the year of upsets, underdogs and parity which should really manifest itself in one of the most exciting tournaments to date. The NCAA tournament is important. It demonstrates the scope of human possibility which is unlimited. It is where the inconceivable is conceived and then is accomplished. It’s a feeling that you never want to come down from; a feeling of urgency and angst; self preservation and straight survival mode. It’s Darwinism at its finest, kill or be killed! You want so desperately to win the next game to not only advance towards your ultimate goal, but to prolong this experience of being together for just another 3-4 days until the next game, and then do it again. Seniors realize this is the end of the road and real life is just around the corner, underclassmen try to push back summer internship start times and send their seniors out properly. Coaches know that one small detail can be the difference between winning and losing, and getting on the summer recruiting tour can wait a few more weeks for this. While the challenges that lie ahead for all teams are both daunting and exciting, it’s important to relish the journey and live in the moment. It’s an experience that is almost impossible to replicate in the real world, for those of us who are coaches, maybe we are still subconsciously chasing that feeling every year as part of why we chose our profession? No one can be certain…

Things that stood out over the past week:

Western Players Receiving Post Season Accolades:
Wes Berg (WCS/Denver), Eric Adamson (WCS/Denver), Michael Hernandez (Adrln All American/Michigan), & Sam Snow (WCS/ Fairfield): ECAC Conference All Star
Peter Baum (WCS/Colgate): First Team All Patriot League
Challen Rodgers (WCS/Stony Brook): 2nd Team America East honors
Tanner Scales (Adrln All-American/UVA): ACC Rookie of the Year
Noah Parsons (ATX Starz/Vassar): Liberty League Rookie of the Year
Ben McIntosh& Robert Curch (WCS/Drexel): First Team ALL CAA Conference

Taylor Wisman (WCS/RIT) scores game winning goal to help RIT win Liberty League tournament in overtime, helping them earn a #2 seed in NCAA tournament.

Westerners in Ivy League tournament:
Really cool to see the amount of WCS/Adrln players in this past weekend’s Ivy League tournament:
Eric Shansagrin (WCS/Princeton) started in goal and helped the Tigers upset Cornell
Michael Keasey (Adrln All-American) & JW Mcgovern (Adrln All-American) each scored for Yale en route to their 2nd consecutive Ivy League Championship.
Sean Doyle (WCS/Cornell), Alex Moffit (WCS/Yale), and Reid Tudor (WCS/UPenn) were also in the mix.

Understanding the NCAA brackets:
It is important that fans understand that this bracket of 16 isn't comprised of the top 16 teams in the country, it's eight automatic qualifiers and the next best eight at-large selections. They seed just 1-8. Much has been made of the committee’s need to take into account hot and cold teams, this was clearly overlooked in the case of UNC.

Only 1 NESCAC team in the NCAA D3 tournament
This is bizarre and hasn’ t happened in ages. As the game continues to grow and more and more new programs are established, more AQ slots gobble up Pool C slots (at- large) and in one sense really dilutes the tournament. Silver lining, Tufts is the one team that got in. J

Changing of the Guard:
Hello, Detroit, Bryant, Albany, Towson and Penn State, St. Mary’s, Dickinson?!
Bye Bye, Hopkins, Virginia, Princeton, Bucknell, and Drexel, Middlebury, Denison!

Best First Round Match-up:
Tough to say, so many good ones lined up:
If you like scoring—Denver v Albany
If you like well coached teams—Cornell v Maryland ( a month ago many thought this could be championship matchup)
If you like the chance of an upset—Lehigh @ UNC
If you love the underdog, feel-good story—Bryant @ Syracuse is my vote
D3 game will surely be Lynchburg v. St. Mary’s, who just upset Salisbury!

Lacrosse on television:
Every coach should make it mandatory that their players stay glued to the television this weekend. Every single game will be televised and there is no better way to learn the game and get excited about lacrosse than by watching it. Set your DVRs!

Over the span of eight years West Coast Starz (WCS) has evolved from one local team in Southern California to a network of elite club teams encompassing the best players in nine states and Western Canada.  With this evolution has come the growth of the number of club teams and talent west of the Mississippi.  Each club has a team per grade level (5th-11th grade), helping to facilitate the growth of the sport and depth in the programs. The focus of WCS is centered on finding the right fit for each individual player and creating fun, memorable experiences with the great events each team attends. West Coast Starz Sectional was created because of the overflow of talent in the West.

About WCS Sectional

West Coast Starz is broken up by region and section.  The quality of WCS Sectional teams is on par with WCS Regional NSCLA teams, but is organized geographically to allow kids to become familiar with other talented players in the area, create longstanding rivalries, and expand opportunities for recruiting. West Coast Starz coaches and managers work hard year round to provide optimum exposure for players and help them find the right college program whether it be NCAA Division I, II, III, or MCLA.  Each Section has seen great success, sending talented athletes to premiere lacrosse programs.

Northwest- Sam Snow (Fairfield), Robert Church (Drexel), Landon Carr (Maryland), Peter Baum (Colgate), Patrick Rodgers (Denver), Drew Snider (Maryland)

Southern California- Steven Bogert (PSU), Erik Adamson (Denver), Geoff Worley (Vermont), Erik Krum (Salisbury), Sean Doyle (Cornell), Max Grandinger (Vermont), Dakota Rohlin (Jacksonville)

Desert- Pierce Bassat (JohnsHopkins), Adam Fishman (Dartmouth), Gray (UMBC), Charlie Hushek (Bryant), Brock Ghelfi (Bucknell)

Rocky Mountain- Chase Thomas (Air Force, 2014) leading the charge.  Great expectations from the youngest Starz section which hosts many promising players.

How to get involved:

Those who play for a WCS Regional Team will be nominated by the AET (Adrenaline Evaluation Team) at any Adrenaline or Starz events to become a part of the WCS Sectional Team.  Anyone is eligible to tryout, even those who aren’t members of the WCS Regional Teams.  Tryouts occur in each section at the end of the year.  94% of WCS players have been able to find the right fit for college, become a part of the Starz family today!
