Adrenaline Challenge: Day 2 Recap & Rankings

Day 2 of the Adrenaline Challenge has come and gone, with hopes that the warm, sunny weather holds out for one more day. With all attending teams on the schedule for today’s games, the 20-field facility saw over 10,000 people by 9:00 AM. Lines for food extended from one side of vendor village to the other, surrounded by teams competing in Spike Ball and kids vying for raffle tickets in the Feel It Factory just so they could trade them in for the newest pieces of Adrenaline apparel. Families also enjoyed the massive Adrenaline liquidation tent full of Adrenaline apparel available for insanely low prices, as well as the Adrenaline Mobile Retail truck that sells all of the latest apparel from the 2013 Winter Line.

Games kicked off as early as 8:00 AM and ran up until the LXM PRO 858 game, which ended 16-15 in favor of Team STX (click here for game recap & player statistics). The LA Lazers HS 2016 team started out the day with high points and a shutout, accompanied by Mustangs Star 2015/2016, ADVNC 2017, and ADVNC 2014 who also came in hot with double digit wins in the first round of games. Each team ended Day 2 with at least three games under their belt. Thirty teams still remain undefeated, making tomorrow a highly competitive, and unpredictable, playoff run. The FCA, RC, 3D, ADVNC, Seattle Starz, and LA Lazers programs in particular have at least three teams undefeated in their respective divisions. Torrey Pines High School – Del Mar, CA

LXM PRO 858 was a back and forth affair between Team STX and Maverik United from start to finish. Maverik struck quickly in the first quarter as midfielder Nick Tintle found the back of the net just seconds into the game. Erik Krum continued the momentum, scoring back-to-back goals. Brandon Corp extended the lead with an unassisted goal to make the score 4-0—the biggest lead of the game.  Sam Bradman finally got Team STX on the board, picking off a pass in the midfield and catching the Maverik defense off guard. Adrenaline Athlete, Peter Baum scored his first goal of the night, unassisted on a left-handed blast on the run, ending the first quarter with Maverik United in the lead 4-2.

In the second quarter Maverik United turnovers on the offensive end allowed STX to rally. Sam Bradman continued to be a threat from the midfield, notching three goals in the quarter.  Maverik’s Billy Bitter and Johnny Christmas scored their first goals of the night, and STX’s Pat Rogers scored unassisted on a low angle shot down the alley to leave the score knotted 6-6 at halftime.

Going into the third quarter, Team STX converted on a quick man-up opportunity with Kyle Harrison scoring off a feed from Sam Bradman to take the lead for the first time in the game. Maverik’s transition offensive continued to be a force throughout the game, as LSM Mark Staines converted off a quick look from Billy Bitter. Team STX retaliated with a three goal run with Max Ritz scoring back-to-back goals off of feeds from Geoff Worley and Jesse Fehr. Pat Rogers notched another unassisted goal to extend Team STX’s lead 10-7, again scoring off a low-angle wing dodge. The Bitter-Staines transition offense  proved to be a dynamic duo, with Bitter converting off a quick look from Staines to keep Maverik within reach. Kyle Harrison notched his second goal of the night to extend the STX lead again, but Maverik retaliated with a 3-0 run with Krum, Christmas, and Bratton scoring a goal apiece. The fourth quarter ended tied again, 11-11.

In the fourth quarter both teams traded scores back and forth, keeping the game within one goal the entire fifteen minutes. Shamel Bratton notched his second goal of the game early on in the quarter on an outside blast, but Max Ritz responded off a helper from Geoff Worley. Maverik United responded in transition once again, with Bitter assisting Krum for his fourth of the night. Team STX went on a two goal run with Xander Ritz scoring his first goal of the game on a fast break feed from Peter Baum and Max Ritz converting on an acrobatic diving one-handed wraparound goal. Rolling off a pick set by Brendan Porter, Christmas scored his third goal of the night to tie the game at 14-14. With 50 seconds left in the game an outside shot from Greg Peyser took a deflection and found its way past Johnny Rodriguez , to give Team STX a brief lead. The lead would be short lived, as Brandon Corp scored out of the timeout on a blistering dodge down the right alley to tie the game with 29 seconds left. Maxx Davis won the ensuing faceoff, allowing Team STX to take a final timeout. In the waning seconds Adrenaline Athlete Max Ritz scored the game winning goal off a helper from his brother, Xander Ritz. Rodriguez got a piece of the shot, but not enough as the ball found the net to give Team STX a dramatic 16-15 victory over Maverik United.

Opening 2014 with another major Southern California event, the LXM PRO Tour will host its final game of the season in Los Angeles, CA January 18th. Adrenaline Challenge: Day 3 Recap

The last day of the Challenge was somewhat surreal. Preparing for a three day tournament to host 140 teams is a daunting task, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel when 10,000 people from all over the country come to share their passion for lacrosse, and it doesn't hurt that the event was held at a beautiful venue in sunny San Diego. Recruiters and returning coaches have come to see the Challenge as a reunion with not only eachother, but also with the Adrenaline Staff before the off season comes to a close.

The event has grown tenfold since its inception 13 years ago, and the level of competition has mimicked its development. "The competition at this event is unparalleled. The venue is awesome and the organization of the event itself gets better every year," says AZ Burn HS coach, Steve Weiss. Despite the naturally high numbers in attending California teams, there were quite a few teams hailing from distant states, such as Atlantic Coast Stars (MD) Project Missouri (MO), Rhino (OR), and New Wave (IL), to name a few. "Competition has been fierce. Its been awesome to see teams we don't normally play," adds Jake Sott, a San Diego LaxDawgs Brown player.

There was a break in the morning Elite/High school games for the '14/'15 and '16/'17 All Star games. Although playoffs were in full swing and many of the players who made the All Star rosters were on teams competing through the playoffs following the games, all players put behind their club differences and geled as a unit (Every attending recruiters was posted up on the sidlines, so that may have had something to do with it). In the '16/'17 game, six different goal scorers representing CA, AZ, and CAN on the White team contributed to their first and only win together. Phillip Thompson who scored two buckets, alongside Jakob Patterson, was a lethal threat on the faceoff. Paired with Goalie Zion DeChesere who managed 4+ saves, the White team beat the Black squad, 8-6. In the '14/'15 game, John Finegan and Jordan Vicente led the Black team in points with two goals apiece, and Johnnie Grais in goal to stop a handful of shots. Down by two at half, the White team threw it into gear all over the field. Collin Grant (TX) and Matt Klein each notched their second goal of the game, while goalie Andrew McCall from Seattle Star with 4+ stops was the White team's answer to swinging the game in their favor, 8-7.

Seventy-one teams began Day 3 competing for a division title, but only eleven teams came out on top. The final games showcased teams from five different states, four of which were represented by the winning teams (CA, AZ, WA, MD). Notably, Seattle Starz 2015, 3D Select NorCal 2017, 395 U15 Black, Force Wookies, RC MS Carolina, and ADVNC 4th went undefeated this entire weekend. ADVNC 2014 conquered the most elite division, sparked by what seems like the need for revenge when they reach the finals. In Day 2 ADNC 2014 lost their last match of the day to FCA HS Silver- the same team they would face in the finals- 9-6. In route to the championship game, ADVNC regained momentum early Sunday morning with a win over Force Select, and then took that fire into the semi finals. On deck was the most anticipated game of the entire weekend between ADVNC 2014 and RC Elite Silver- both teams are known for their more recent blowout performances (ADVNC in Sonoma and RC in Vegas). ADVNC managed a two point lead on RC to end their playoff run, 8-6. Check out Ty Xanders' in depth recap of ADVNC 2014's semi-final and championship game here. Despite RC Elite Silver's loss, three other RC teams earned championship titles. Recruiting: Adrenaline Challenge Recap, Part 2

By: Ty Xanders, InsideLacrosse.com

An excellent weekend of West Coast lacrosse is in the books and after focusing on the team aspect, it's time to break down the skill sets of some of the individuals from the Adrenaline Challenge, which took place on the Del Mar Polo Fields in San Diego.

Big thanks to the people at Adrenaline for another well-organized and talent-rich event. Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't give a huge shoutout to two amigos who helped make my first trip to San Diego more enjoyable. Upon my arrival at the airport, Eddy Glazener (Notre Dame) made a pit stop at infamous burger chain In N Out, beginning my little West Coast jaunt with a bang. What a glorious delicacy. Later in the weekend, Torrey Pines grad Chris Carter (another Fighting Irish pole) took three of us on a little tour of the beautiful beach towns in SD. Nope, I do not miss the polar vortex going on back east. Thanks again for everything, boys.

For any corrections, new commitments, etc., feel free to e-mail me at txanders@insidelacrosse.com.

Scores from the weekend

ATTACK

A player who continues to improve each time I see him, Harvard verbal Joe Lang (2014 / Fog City A) made a bunch of plays for his squad, using prime IQ, athleticism and a great shot to boost the boys from St. Ignatius Prep. Love how he's a great shooter with his feet set or on the run and can also dish to the open man on 6-on-6. Teammate Peter Alimam (2015 / Fog City A), who apparently committed to Fairfield a month or two ago, also had a huge weekend in San Diego, proving to be a savvy scorer with either hand.

Liked what I saw from another pledge to the Crimson in Bishop's School product Connor McCroskey (2015 / RC Silver), ranked as the No. 30 player in his class in the Recruiting Issue. His relatively electrifying style of play can't be ignored and he looks to be a reliable scoring option when the game is on the line, depositing a key tally late in a semifinal loss to ADVNC. Teammate Andrew Tien (2014 / RC Silver), a skilled player who had a standout summer leading to an Air Force commitment, also dazzled at times.

Others Who Deserve a Mention: Joe Rodrigues (2014 / ADVNC), Conor O'Brien (2015 / LA Lazers Pink), Patrick Brosnan (2017 / 3D Select NorCal), Aidan Chandless (2015 / ADVNC), Jakob Patterson (2017 / AZ Force), James Yanes (2015 / OC Kings Elite Purple)

MIDFIELD

While one of the younger players on his squad, Harry Wellford (2017 / Project Missouri) floats between the restraining lines with his athleticism and confident dodging style. From what I hear, he's already getting some Division I attention. MICDS classmate Gaines Bundy is a stud as well and had a solid All-Star Game performance. A big-time steal for Richie Meade and Furman, Finn Barry (2015 / Fog City A) is an excitable player to watch, possessing athleticism and the overall ability to make the right play every time. In terms of his St. Ignatius teammates, I was also impressed with between the lines standout junior Nick Stinn and Nick Dupuis, who is a smooth player in transition with a hard shot, two attributes he showed off in the ASG.

Another stalwart in the All-Star Game was Yuta Murata (2015 / LA Lazers Elite Pink), who jumps out right away showcasing his foot speed and the way he set up and executed his dodges from up top. The junior athlete will be a get for whoever scoops him up. Also enjoyed watching undersized grinder Zack Francowiak (2015 / Utah Blackhawks Elite), who showed a ton of hustle on the big stage, playing hard between the lines to boost the Black squad. Armed with excellent speed, Ashton Pieris (2015 / Seattle Starz) also showed well all weekend.

I wasn't able to watch his complete dominance since I went back and forth from the two All-Star Games but Phillip Thompson (2016 / LA Lazers Pink) was remarkable at the face-off X, winning the ball wherever he needed to. Really dug the quick hands and grittiness of the Harvard-Westlake sophomore.

Others Who Deserve a Mention: Sammy Edwards (2015 / LA Lazers Elite Pink), Cade Green (2017 / 3D Select NorCal), Zane Friedt (2017 / Sawtooth Black), Matt Lowry (2016 / New Wave Volt), Myles Hamm (2017 / Mustangs Starz Gold), Ryan Coukilis (2015 / Force Select), Jordan Vicente (2015 / LaxDawgs Brown)

DEFENSE & GOALIE

Coming out of Palos Verdes HS, longstick middie Scott Phillips (2017 / LA Lazers Pink) is a recruit to keep an eye on. Might have to tone down the aggressiveness at times but he uses his stick well and swarmed the ball, making life difficult for opposing attackmen, also carrying upfield and taking a rip or two. I'm glad I got to check out what Joe Carrington (2017 / 3D Select NorCal) brings me to the table - definitely see why UNC jumped on the San Ramon Valley prospect so early. He has a great frame for his age, maybe 6-foot and 190 lbs. if I had to guess, and is a tough costumer 1-on-1, doing a nice job getting the ball off the carpet and upfield.

There were a few great d-men coming I watched out of Utah, namely Garrett Bullett (2015 / Utah Blackhawks Elite), who recently switched his commitment from Maryland to Rutgers. Great on wings and is an outstanding athlete who roams the field with an eye-popping sort of presence. Marquette verbal Carter Mannix (2014 / Utah Blackhawks Elite) is a physical close guy while Garrett Michaeli (2015 / Utah Blackhawks Elite) is a rangy player who moves his feet well and stays heavy on the hands.

In cage, Zion DeChesere (2017 / Mustangs Starz HS Gold) was very impressive in the bit of the young guys' All-Star Game I caught. Stopping five or so shots, his communication and technique looked rather strong, as did his ability to find the open man in the clearing game. Looks to be a promising recruit out of Nevada, an area that has been producing a sizable amount of D1 talent.

In the game I watched against the Atlantic Coast Starz, Josh Matte (2016 / Seattle Starz) was awesome in the second half, making at least a half dozen stops. Baited the Crabs shooters a little bit with his low style and is quick-handed and superb out of the cage. Seems to be riding the wave from the fall, when he committed to Denver shortly after Bill Tierney watched him at the Terrapin Classic.

Others Who Deserve a Mention: Scott Hooper (2014 / FCA Silver), Nate Wade (2015 / Utah Blackhawks Elite), Evan Riss (2017 / Atlantic Coast Starz), Hugh Crance (2015 / OC Kings Purple), Conner Markley (2015 / LA Lazers Elite Pink), Tom Sigmund (2015 / Project Missouri), Kieran Keane (2016 / American Revolution), Alex Rode (2017 / Atlantic Coast Starz)

The Best Weekend Of Lacrosse...EVER?

(2016/2017 All Star Game. Love that Black Card Helmet)

Yes, I'm claiming it...this was the best weekend of lacrosse…EVER.

Last weekend Adrenaline hosted the 13th annual Adrenaline Challenge. This event used to be comprised of 10 teams scattered about a patch of grass full of overgrown knots and gopher holes. Think dodging a long stick is hard? Try dodging a long stick while worrying about snapping your ankle…OK I’m being a little dramatic, but the truth is I’m a little bitter! Why? Because I played at one of the first ever Adrenaline Challenge's and frankly I’m slightly jealous of how good these kids have it nowadays.  Don’t get me wrong, I had a blast playing for the LaxDawgs and was coached by the same guys who are still coaching the Elite team. With that said….COME ON! Tough to compare and compete with this last weekend’s event.

(My boy and fellow ADRLN Athlete Erik Krum hanging with the groms post clinic. Currently the leading scorer for Mav U! @Krummy35)

The Del Mar Polo fields played host to 140 teams hailing from 13 different states and Western Canada. The weather was perfect and considering the recent “Big Freeze” that’s occurring virtually everywhere but San Diego, I think the out of state teams were pretty pumped. What are theseseasonsI keep hearing about anyway? On top of the 75-degree weather, the fields were immaculate, the competition was unprecedented, and vendor village was buzzing with games, prizes, and delicious food options. Not to mention a retail set up that offered Adrenaline apparel, shafts, heads, shoes, pads and more at ridiculously low prices. The Challenge has evolved from a round robin jamboree to a full on lacrosse festival unlike any other lacrosse event in the world, and NOT just because of the aforementioned benefits. Those certainly help but my point is, where in the world would you find such an incredible event that is partnered with a professional game where the pros actually interact with the players and teach them valuable skills? Throughout the whole event there were professional players giving instructional clinics, coaching and evaluating players as a part of the Adrenaline Evaluation Team. On top of the AET crew scoping out new talent, there were over 65 recruiters in attendance trying find the right kids to fit into their college program. Oh did I mention the weather was 75 and sunny everyday?

After Saturday’s games were completed everyone headed over to Torrey Pines High School for the LXM PRO game. For those of you who missed it, you can watch it here! As a player, I can tell you first hand that this crowd was AWESOME. The stadium was packed and the kids were psyched. In typical LXM fashion, the game was chippy, back-and-forth and very intense. With several score changes, the game was finally winding down with about 30 seconds left on the clock. The score was tied at 15 a piece. After a missed shot and a quick restart, Xander Ritz found his brother Max Ritz cutting on the crease for the game winning goal with only 2 seconds left on the clock! Talk about a buzzer beater! Check out a full game recap here.

Was my previous claim that this was the best weekend of lacrosse of all time a little bold? Maybe…but seriously, this was a pretty good one! The Del Mar Challenge is a great event and if it’s come this far in 10 years, I sure can’t wait to see what it looks like in another ten! Check out some pictures here: https://www.facebook.com/AdrenalineLacrosse

Thanks to everyone who came out to this event and made it the best lacrosse event I’ve ever been apart of. See you guys in LA for LXM PRO 805!

AdrenaFIT Preseason Workout Plan

The season is about 6-8 weeks away and unless you are lucky enough to live in sunny Southern California you are probably dealing with some less than ideal weather.  Between the weather and shortened daylight it is hard to get out on the field to train.  This program is perfect as a 5-day strength & conditioning program that can be done in the gym.  Because we are only a few weeks away from the season the strength portion focuses on core, bi-lateral stability, and body weight exercises using higher rep ranges.  If you have been involved in a structured strength program you can increase sets and decrease the reps to continue to build power and strength.  The conditioning days are meant to take advantage of different equipment and methods while in the gym.  I am sure you will be spending plenty of time doing sprints on the field this spring!  The conditioning is shorter days but should still be done at maximal effort.  Make sure you perform the movement prep at the beginning of each workout and the static stretch routine at the end.  I would also encourage players to follow the wall ball routine each day.  This program is for HS/college players that have a strong foundation and understanding of strength training.  For younger players that are not familiar with strength training please use one of the previous free workouts I have posted.  Make sure you a eating enough food to fuel your workouts and aid in recovery between workouts.

Movement Prep (10 minutes)

  1. Shoulder Mobility – I’s, Y’s, T’s - 10x each
  2. Standing Truck Rotation – 20x

  7. Bootstrap Squats – 5x
  8. World’s Greatest Stretch – 3/side

Adrenaline is proud to announce its expansion into Oregon with the partnership of its newest Starz affiliate, Rhino Lacrosse Club. Founded in 2005, Rhino Lacrosse is a Portland-based club program headed by former Syracuse University, Team USA, and professional lacrosse player, Ryan Powell. Rhino provides girls and boys of all ages and abilities with training courses, lessons, clinics, year-round leagues, tournaments, all-star select travel teams, and summer academies to enhance their lacrosse game.

Rhino has attended various Adrenaline events with great success, particularly the Sonoma High School Shootout last summer where the Rhino Orangemen High School team went 7 - 0 on the weekend and took home the Championship title.  "We have been doing Adrenaline Tournaments for years and they have an excellent product at all levels which continues to improve and be cutting edge in all areas,” says Scott Demonte, COO of Rhino Lacrosse.  After years of events, Adrenaline has running a tournament down to a science, but it is the quality of the teams in attendance that really make or break the event. With Rhino on board, this partnership can only strengthen the growth of lacrosse in Oregon and out West as a whole. "I look forward to working with Rhino lacrosse,” says Rory Doucette, Vice President of Adrenaline.  “They have established themselves as the leader for lacrosse education and club success in Oregon and the synergy we already have makes us very excited about the future.”

As official partners, all Rhino lacrosse teams will receive the full Adrenaline Treatment in which the Adrenaline Design team will revamp Rhino’s uniforms in conjunction with the Adrenaline brand. Rhino teams will gain priority access to all Adrenaline events, but more importantly, they will receive exclusive access to the premier West Coast Starz club program that currently boasts a 99% and 95% commitment rate at the National and Sectional levels, respectively. Rhino players can now reap the benefits of participating in the best team recruitment tournaments in the country, as well as Adrenaline individual player recruiting events. “Aside from their great team tournaments, I feel the recruiting opportunities that Adrenaline provides for players are second to none on the west coast and our partnership will allow the players in our program to take advantage of the opportunities that best serve them to achieve their lacrosse goals on and off the field,” adds Demonte. Adrenaline’s mission to help Rhino grow and reach new heights couldn’t be more in line with Rhino’s efforts to get their players performing at the next level.

“Adrenaline Lacrosse is doing some really cool things in the game right now,” says Ryan Powell, founder of Rhino Lacrosse. “We are very excited for our Oregon-based Rhino Lacrosse Club to become an affiliate of Adrenaline. This partnership is a great fit for Rhino Lacrosse and I'm excited for the future.”?

Rhino Lacrosse players are now eligible for the West Coast Starz: Northwest tryouts taking place January 25th& 26th in Redmond, Washington. All players wishing to participate in the tryouts must be associated with a Starz affiliate team in order to qualify for West Coast Starz. This is the last chance to tryout for the WCS 2014 Summer teams. Register today!

All Access: Adrenaline Athlete Immersion Weekend

From November 3rd-5th, 15 members of the Adrenaline family took off to Idyllwild, CA to immerse in nature and indoctrinate our athletes, both physically and mentally, on what it is to be a leader of the Adrenaline All Fight, No Flight movement.

Located 2 hours northeast of San Diego, Idyllwild, as described by the Chamber of Commerce, “is a magical village, surrounded by gorgeous mountains, lazy creeks, and towering pines.” Idyllwild offers the perfect setting to, “renew your spirit through hiking the trails, rock climbing, or listening to the crickets at your campsite.” Nestled in the San Jacinto Mountains, “Idyllwild offers the peace and pace to let go of stress and remember what matters most through.”

Lead by Adrenaline CEO and CMO, Alex Cade, and Parker Anger, VP of Branding & Design, the Idyllwild crew consisted of our 6 Adrenaline Athletes, members of the Adrenaline Marketing and Art Departments, and a handful of other Adrenaline employees, all enlisted to help facilitate the 3-day trip.

Our objectives were dual-fold. We wanted to collect our athletes and get them out of the day-to-day grind to further bond an already tightly knit group of guys through training and some off-the-grid activity. Idyllwild also presented a great opportunity to educate our athletes on Adrenaline’s plans for the future. Adrenaline Development Director & LXMPRO, Xander Ritz explains, “those guys [Adrenaline Athletes] are out on the front lines 24/7, so making sure they know where we’re going and what we’re trying to accomplish, and hearing it first hand from the people growing the business, is absolutely critical.

Furthermore, Adrenaline President & CMO, Alex Cade, explains, “I really wanted to be sure the athletes had a great experience and were provided the ability to train with the top Adrenaline resources, while also indoctrinating them with what it means to be a part of the Adrenaline Movement and the All Fight, No Flight mindset. It was extremely important to me that everything was very authentic and natural so that they had a genuine opportunity to come together as a group of like-minded cultural advocates. These guys are our champions, and we wanted them to feel invigorated and motivated to have an impact after the weekend.”

Our second objective: capture the experience. We wanted to create powerful and innovative content to help propel Adrenaline as a brand to a new level in terms of quality representation in photography and video. While we were there, we recorded the experience and tried to be “flies on the wall” as much as possible. Sometimes we had to pause between drills to clean/set up, but generally speaking, the priority was the athletes.

In an effort to accurately provide a behind-the-scenes look into our trip to Idyllwild, I’ve compiled a variety of our photo and video assets, impressions, and general thoughts on the trip for your viewing pleasure.

IMPRESSIONS

ALEX CADE
CEO & CMO, ADRENALINE LACROSSE

General Idyllwild Takeaway:
A group of diverse and unique athletes came together as one cohesive unit on the trip. The combination of intense training with our Training Director, Jesse Foss, and living/relaxing in a remote mountain chalet in a home-style fashion, brought out the best in this group. I think they all left with a sense of purpose and a clear understanding of the Adrenaline All Fight No Flight movement is all about, and how they can perpetuate it.

Favorite Moment in Idyllwild:
The fog rolling in during the 6am training session, or the guys bombing up a 45 degree angle crumbling hill. The cliff dive gainer by Geoff Worley and Whit McCarthy…everyone chipping in on the meal prep, hanging at night…so much good stuff.

Least Favorite Moment in Idyllwild:
It gets tough for me sometimes with a camera crew always around. I worry about it interfering with the authentic nature of what we are trying to achieve. I don’t really think it was a problem this time though…so probably when our top athletes couldn’t lax skeet-shoot a pine comb out of the air after 500 tries.

Favorite Adrenaline Athlete:
Tough call. Lotta fight and not much flight with our guys, but I have a sweet spot for my boy, G7 (Geoff Worley). He’s a true scrapper, and I’ve enjoyed watching his game build to higher and higher levels as he starts to catch up to the speed of the pro level. I coached Geoff in high school, we both share a hometown (now), and I love our shared passion for surf and the outdoors. He is also our Awareness Director, which means a lot to me.

PARKER ANGER
VP BRANDING AND DESIGN, ADRENALINE LACROSSE

General Idyllwild Takeaway:
In this environment, it’s important to have a team atmosphere. Everyone, at one point or another, has to do something out of his or her normal scope of work for the betterment of the whole team. Besides an amazing experience and the incredible photo/video assets we collected, we, as a team, came together and exceeded our goals.

Favorite Moment in Idyllwild:
Although there were many great moments, shooting by the rock formation at night was my favorite. It was really our only contrived shot the whole trip so it took a different level of execution.  As we were setting it up, we had a generator go out so we had to wheel another down through some rough terrain. It took a lot of coordination, and our Design Director, Jon Gagnon, really stepped up to make it happen. It was literally about 20 degrees outside, so everyone was bundled up except our athletes who didn’t care it all. It was certainly the pinnacle of the team coming together to execute a very hard concept and I think the footage speaks for itself.

Least Favorite Moment in Idyllwild:
Leaving.

Favorite Adrenaline Athlete:
Oooooooo, tough question, I like them all the same, but for different reasons. Xander, I’ve known the longest and will be friends with him for a long time to come.  I’ve also had a great time teaching him what good music is.  Max and I have bonded on the road during sales meetings and there is no better place to get to know someone than in traffic on the Jersey Turnpike or sweating a Kinkos mission in Pittsburgh.  Those trips have literally lead to daily “chop sessions”.   Geoff, I pseudo coached at Nado and watched him grow up.  He was my first intern so we definitely had some comedic times together…I’m sure I’m still the toughest boss he’s ever had.   Krum and I have gotten to know each other more recently and I’m excited about the potential friendship there.   The only thing more beastly than Pete’s game is his intellect and I always welcome a good conversation.  Plus, I see a lot of opportunity to teach him good music.   Whit was easily the most impressive performer of the Idyllwild trip and demonstrated AFNF with a healthy competition from Geoff.   The force is strong in this one.

Favorite Apparel Item from the Holiday13 Collection:
There is no better item in our collection this year than the So Nice Crewneck.  I live in it.

XANDER RITZ
LXMPRO: STX #14
DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT, ADRENALINE LACROSSE

General Idyllwild Takeaway:
Most simply stated, I think we, collectively speaking, left feeling stronger than ever about what we’re doing at Adrenaline - athletes, directors and creatives alike.

Favorite Moment in Idyllwild:
Good question. I think training on the field in the woods was the best. It was the authentic brand moment I’ve felt outside an event in a while. We had our athletes training in a very cool location while our creative team and directors worked to capture the moment without interfering with the work athletes were putting in. It all kinda came together. I thought it was a brilliant location Parker chose for the shoot. The beach has been the backdrop for a lot of Adrenaline content over the years and shifting away from the beach to the mountains was a really strong decision and hopefully one people will appreciate as much as we did being there.

Least Favorite Moment in Idyllwild:
I’m not sure there was one?! Every spot we hit was selected intentionally and with careful thought.  The operation was as professional as we have run and I know the athletes recognized that and look forward to the next shoot already.

Favorite ADRLN Athlete:
The impossible question. I have such a strong connection to all the guys it’s unfair to have to select one guy. That said, my brother has to be it because we’ve been through this thing since the beginning. We have been ambassadors for Adrenaline since the word go, so seeing so many talented people collaborating on the shoot in Idyllwild was definitely a cool experience and a clear leap forward for Adrenaline as a brand. But I can’t overlook the relationships I have with Baum and Krum. I spent a ton of time with both those guys when I first moved out west and it was guys like Krum and Baum that drove me to stay out here and work in the sport. Their raw passion and drive to be great is still inspiring. It is an extremely cool feeling to work with them and step out on a field to play with or against both those guys after having coached and worked with them throughout their high school and collegiate careers.

Favorite Apparel Item from the Holiday13 Collection:
It’s a great line, but the So Nice Crewneck is my favorite, hands down!

PETER BAUM
LXMPRO: STX #15
DIRECTOR OF LXM, ADRENALINE LACROSSE

General Idyllwild Takeaway:
I think Idyllwild was a tremendous production that showed off our company’s teamwork and collaboration skills on a high level. As an athlete, I feel that the training we did was worthwhile and fun, and as a group we had a great chance to bond and spend some time together outside of the traditional grind. For the brand, the video and photography content we gathered was incredible.

Favorite Moment in Idyllwild:
Probably the last one we captured, with the six of us (Adrenaline Athletes) standing on the big rock kind of at the edge of the cliff, looking out over the valley, with the helicopter go-pro camera above us. Very cool imagery and a great parting shot for the Holiday13 look-book video.

Least Favorite Moment in Idyllwild:
It was incredibly dry, so probably the dehydration factor. It doesn't seem like it would be tiring, but when you're out there all day taking pictures, training, hiking, etc. it gets pretty taxing.

Favorite ADRLN Athlete:
Besides myself, obviously…probably Xander.

Favorite Apparel Item from the Holiday13 Collection:

Adrenaline set up shop at Conejo Creek South Park in Thousand Oaks, CA yesterday afternoon in preparation for the last LXM|ATS tournament of the 2013/2014 season. The ten-field facility hosted games from 9:00 AM to sunset, and the mountainous backdrop and familiar faces of returning teams was just the cherry on top to Adrenaline’s parting event before the spring season. The parking lot buzzed with four different food trucks, STX and Top Flight Mentality giving demos, lacrosse jewelry selling accessories, and Adrenaline Retail selling old and new Adrenaline apparel. The Adrenaline Feel-It-Factory was also fully activated, allowing young, prize-winning enthusiasts to earn raffles tickets so they could get free Adrenaline gear.

The competition was high at today’s event, with teams eager for one last chance to make their mark before retiring their club jerseys for the spring. Eleven teams, including LaxDawgs Brown*, RC Elite Carolina*, Wild Horse Varsity, 395 Starz Elite Black*, OC Kings HS 2017*, RC MS Silver*, Alpha MS Navy*, Alpha MS White*, RC Youth Silver*, SB Elite U13*, and Dragons 4th, all went undefeated in Day 1, each winning three games to boost them into the playoffs (* indicates its an Adrenaline Starz program). Alpha MS Navy, Santa Monica Dragons, and SB Elite U13 were the only three teams to secure shutout games, with SB Elite U13 holding two of their opponents to zero goals.

Team STX Wins LXMPRO 805, 19-18

The LXM PRO 805 game was the epitome of a perfect ending to the 2013/2014 Pro Tour and was nothing short of the typical barn burner between Team STX and Maverik United. Regular time ended in an 18-18 tie, only to have Xander Ritz score his first goal of the game to get Team STX the win, 19-18, in sudden death overtime. LXM PRO and Adrenaline Athlete Peter Baum took home the #AllFightNoFlight MVP title for tonight's game, heavily contributing to his squad's success with seven goals and two assists. Baum's outstanding performance in tonight's game tied him with Sam Bradman for leading points on the season.

The first quarter ended in a 4-4 tie, which only increased the anticipation and curiosity of which team would come out on top. The second quarter ended in favor of Team STX 11-7, highlighted by goals from Peter Baum (2), Kyle Harrison, Greg Peyser, Sam Bradman, Max Ritz, and Benson Erwin for Team STX, and Kit Smith (2) and Sean Lindsay for Maverik United.

Despite a Team STX faceoff win in the opening minutes of the second half, Maverik United's Nick Tintle capitalizes off a pass from Erik Krum, triggered by a crucial save by Johnny Rodriguez. A series of back and forth play was halted by back-to-back goals from Brandon Corp for Maverik United. Peter Baum and Sam Bradman attempted to maintain the lead for Team STX, but Maverik United continued their hot streak and ended the third quarter in the lead, 16-13.

A three-goal run for Team STX in the beginning of the third quarter put both teams back to an even 16-16. Matt Miller came up big with a rebound goal to put Team STX back in the lead, 17-16.  Maverik United answered back with two more goals, only to have Matt Russell deny a third with a huge save that sparked transition, leading to a goal by Sam Bradman to end regular time 18-18.

Fueled by the desire to win and perpetuated by his brother’s game winning glory in the LXM PRO 858 game in San Diego, Xander Ritz drilled the back of the net within 12 seconds of the sudden death OT faceoff. Team STX took the final win of the LXM PRO 2013/2014 season, 19-18, but with much difficulty.

Stay tuned for a full recap of the game coming soon. Check out the live broadcast of the game on www.youtube.com/TLN.

Team STX Trumps Maverik United In Another One Goal Stunner

LXM PRO 805 started fast and proved to be a dramatic ending to the 2013/ 2014 Pro Tour. The game saw major runs from both Team STX and Maverik United, and regulation time ended with the score knotted in an 18-18 tie. Adrenaline Athlete Xander Ritz scored his first goal of the game to nab a 19-18 sudden death overtime victory for Team STX.  Adrenaline Athlete Peter Baum took home the #AllFightNoFlight MVP honors, carrying the load offensively all game long with seven goals and two assists. Baum's outstanding performance tied him with Sam Bradman for the overall points lead for the season.

The opening faceoff found Brendan Porter’s stick off a flick from Nick Tintle for the first possession of the game.  After a series of back and forth transitions and jittery play from both sides, Adrenaline Athlete Peter Baum took a feed from Kyle Harrison and slipped one past Johnny Rodriguez for the first goal of the game. Adrenaline Athlete Erik Krum followed suit moments later on the other end of the field off an assist from fellow Adrenaline Athlete, Whit McCarthy. Sam Bradman notched his first of the game to maintain the Team STX lead, only to have Sean Lindsay and Kit Smith bury two to bring the score, 3-2. Baum answered back with his second of the game, which was immediately washed by a MavU goal from fellow Colgate alum, Brandon Corp. Unwilling to be outdone, Baum secured a much-needed hat trick off a pass from Greg Peyser to end the first quarter in a tie, 4-4.

Kyle Harrison set the tone for Team STX in opening minutes of the second quarter to take the lead 5-4. Maverik United responded with a flurry of offensive opportunities, but Matt Russell came up with a big save and found Benson Erwin streaking in transition, who then earned his first assist of the game off a fast break feed to Baum for his fourth goal of the game. Maverik United’s Kit Smith interrupted Team STX’s two-goal streak, but Baum converted his fifth goal of the game off of a Xander Ritz pass. Greg Peyser then struck on an unassisted tally to stretch the score 8-5. The ball switched ends several times before Matt Miller scooped the ball at midfield and tossed it down field to Bradman for his second of the game. Team STX’s hot streak continued for two more goals with a Ritz brothers combination and a defensive midfield connection from Benson Erwin to Maxx Davis. Despite Team STX’s second quarter shooting clinic, Lindsay and Smith were able to sneak in two goals for Maverik United before the half. The second quarter ended in favor of Team STX, 11-7.

Despite a Team STX faceoff win in the opening minutes of the second half, it was Maverik who scored first, with Nick Tintle capitalizing off a pass from Erik Krum after a crucial save from Johnny Rodriguez. A series of back and forth plays were halted by back-to-back Maverik United goals from Brandon Corp to trim the STX lead to one. In typical Baum fashion, the attacker tallied his sixth goal of the game to make the score 12-10. While it seemed Maverik might never tie the contest, Corp’s sharpshooting continued, as he answered back with a diving wrap around shot for his third of the game. After some poor shooting to start the game, Shamel Bratton kicked it into gear to tie up the game with 6:30 left in the third quarter and Sean Lindsey continued Maverik’s momentum, sticking his third of the game on an inside roll. Bratton immediately tacked on his second goal to take the lead, 14-12. Down by two, Sam Bradman fired one in off a pass from Baum to close the gap to 14-13. Matt Russell made some spectacular saves, but the Maverik offense remained hot, as the quarter closed with two late MavU goals to head into the fourth with the 16-13 lead.

Ignited by Peter Baum’s seventh goal of the game, a three-goal run for Team STX in the beginning of the third quarter puts both teams back on even terms. Kyle Harrison converted in transition following a save by Russell with an underhand shot through Rodriguez’s legs to cut Maverik’s lead to one, 16-15. Shortly after, Xander Ritz set his brother Max up for the second time to tie the game 16-16 with eight minutes to play, followed by a Matt Miller rebound goal from the crease to give Team STX the lead, 17-16. With less than 4:00 minutes to go in the game, an STX penalty gave Maverik United a man up opportunity. The advantage was short-lived however, as an errant Bratton pass immediately landed them back on defense.

Out of a late timeout Maverik United capitalized with a goal from Kit Smith, his fourth of the contest, to tie it 17-17 with 5:00 minutes to go, and Shamel Bratton rung a beautiful shot off the crossbar and in to take the lead. With the game in their hands, Maverik United lost possession via an interception from Matt Russell. Peter Baum moved the ball from behind to Sam Bradman on the left wing who dodged topside and beat Rodriguez with an outside shot he’d surely like to have back. With the game tied 18-18, neither team was able to convert as the game headed to overtime.

Overtime was quick and fast, as Greg Peyser popped the faceoff forward and hit Baum at the point who dumped it down to Xander Ritz for the game winner, just twelve seconds into sudden death OT. Team STX took the final win of the LXM PRO 2013/2014 season, 19-18.

Day 2 of LXM|ATS: Los Angeles was a bittersweet ending for the 2013/2014 Adrenaline tournament season. Forty teams returned to Conejo Creek Park early this morning to compete in a minimum of two games, with many teams that qualified for the playoffs vying for a third game for a chance to win a division title.

RC Youth Carolina, RC Youth Silver, RC MS Carolina, Alpha White MS, LaxDawgs Elite Brown, and OP Starz HS came out firing, notching double digits in their opening playoff games. OP Starz HS was the only team to claim a shutout in the playoffs, but later fell a few goals short to the undefeated OC Kings 2017. The highest-level bracket, Adrln Elite, came down to a three-way tie for the #1 seed entering the playoffs, with RC Elite Carolina earning the spot as a result of the least goals against. Wild Horse Varsity, who went into the playoffs as the #2 seed, dominated their quarterfinal and semifinal opponents by five goals en route to their second win against RC Elite Carolina in the Adrln Elite finals. The championship game scores alone are a testament to the quality of play at this tournament. Although LaxDawgs Elite Brown won the STX Elite championship game with a five-goal cushion, the rest of the teams beat their opponents by four goals or less in the finals, with three of the championship games ending in a one-goal differential.
